MTD 535 Burl Maple on Alder with Case
Here's another great bass from Mike Tobias. It has all the thump & snarl you'd expect from an MTD but the alder body & maple neck with rosewood fingerboard give this bass a more traditional sound than the ash body & neck or mahogany body basses we more frequently order. There's also a sweetness in it that isn't present in a lot of MTDs. Very nice. The burl top is gorgeous & well set off with matching head cap & truss rod cover. The hand rubbed ice tea stain is a lighter more honeyed shade than Mike's usual; it's almost amber.

The playability is of course top notch. The frets are perfectly dressed & the Buzz Feiten tuning system precludes intonation problems even with tight chord voicings. Bartolini humbuckers & 18 volt 3 band preamp with 3 way mid frequency switch provide almost endless tonal variety. Hipshot hardware.
