Pre Owned Mockingbird Electric Bass Guitar W/ Case

Vintage 1982 Mockingbird Electric Bass, Neck Through, Indian Rosewood Fretboard, W/Original Hardshell Case Serial Number 84735

Rare and Iconic Vintage Mockingbird Bass from B.C. Rich! Dialed in and set up in-shop, plays great with low action and no issues! Neck Through design with EMG P/J pickups. In excellent condition for the age; some minor finish wear and bald spots. Some finish wear on gold bridge. There was a neck break that has been professionally re-glued and finished, no playing issues.

The original owner replaced the original DiMarzio pickups with EMGs, and as such the Varitone 5-way phaser switch was disconnected. The original part and the Moser circuits are still there and appear in good shape, but the bass has been re-wired to accomodate the new system. Moser currently offers a Pre-wired Full Mockingbird bass circuit on their website for use with the original pickups.

Pictures shown with included strap attachments (strap included) which can be removed without modding the bass. Includes original hardshell B.C. Rich case; case is a little road worn but fully functional.

Description:

The Mockingbird model was designed on a sketch by bassist Johnny "Go-Go" Kallas. According to Kallas, the "shorthorn" version of the guitar appeared in 1975. The Mockingbird was released in 1976, and was redesigned by Bernie Rico into the "longhorn" version in 1978, which is the better known version of the guitar.

The neck-through construction, dramatic body styling, and custom active electronics were wildly advanced features at the time, and dramatic improvements over what was available from the major builders like Fender, Gibson and Rickenbacker.
