Vintage Gibson 1967 B-25N Acoustic Guitar, Natural, w/Case
Vintage 1967 Gibson B-25N Acoustic Guitar – Natural – Made in USA w/Hardshell Case
A wonderful example of Gibson's classic small-body acoustic guitars, this 1967 Gibson B-25N combines vintage Kalamazoo craftsmanship with the warm, woody tone and comfortable playing feel that have made these instruments enduring favorites. Featuring a solid spruce top, mahogany back and sides, traditional X-bracing, and a beautiful natural finish, the B-25N delivers the distinctive character of a 1960s Gibson in a compact, responsive package.
History & Background
Introduced in 1962, the Gibson B-25 series evolved directly from the highly regarded LG-2 and LG-3 models. The sunburst B-25 succeeded the LG-2, while the natural-finish B-25N carried on the tradition of the LG-3.
Manufactured at Gibson's legendary Kalamazoo, Michigan factory, the B-25 became a popular choice among folk, blues, and singer-songwriter musicians throughout the 1960s and 1970s.
The B-25N's natural finish highlights the spruce soundboard, while its smaller body offers a comfortable alternative to Gibson's larger J-45 and Southern Jumbo models.
By 1967, Gibson had introduced the slimmer neck profile characteristic of its later-1960s acoustics. Many examples from this period also feature an adjustable bridge saddle, a distinctive Gibson design that allows convenient action adjustments.
Tone & Playing Character
The B-25N is appreciated for its warm, dry, woody sound, pronounced midrange, and clear, articulate response.
Its compact body produces a focused voice particularly well suited to fingerstyle playing, blues, folk, light strumming, and recording. The shorter scale length contributes to a comfortable feel and slightly more relaxed string tension.
Unlike larger dreadnoughts, the B-25 emphasizes balance and note definition rather than overwhelming bass response.
Condition
This vintage 1967 Gibson B-25N displays attractive aging and cosmetic wear consistent with its nearly 60-year history. The natural spruce top exhibits typical finish checking, light scratches, and surface wear, with no structural cracks identified on the top.
The mahogany back shows additional finish checking, light buckle rash, and a visible finish split that does not extend through the wood. The back and sides retain their rich vintage appearance, while the original-style three-on-a-plate tuners display age-related oxidation and patina.
The bridge is original. It has been cleaned and re-glued. The headstock has a small chip on treble point.
